I am sorry I have not put out much info about Relentless, but as you can imagine we are very busy. We were able to get R back to San Luis Obispo after a grueling 39 hours of driving in three days. My wife Karen and I cut the tail off and loaded R on a trailer in about 4 hours. During our long trip home we could only confirm one accident by someone more interested in watching us than watching the road. At this point we have totally stripped the plane and removed all damaged material. We have fit a new tail section to replace the old one we had to remove for transport, and we have found nothing we cannot repair. It seems that The NTSB has completed their investigation with Lycoming and at this point they have found nothing wrong with the engine. I expect them to blame icing of the breather vent system for the cause. I certainly wish we could find something more definitive. We plan on venting our separator into the exhaust thus eliminating the possibility of icing during high altitude cruise flight. I would like to say that we could make it to Reno this year but my desire to make Relentless as beautiful as it is fast simply does not leave the time to be ready. I will add more info during the rebuild to keep you all update.
